35 years of
service to the Double Glazing Industry
Technical Information
Composition and Manufacture
The window profiles are extruded from high impact PVCu which complies
with BS7413:1991 under the strictest quality control. In manufacture
all mitred corners are fusion welded using the hot blade method for
strength and weather tightness, transforms and mullions can be either
V-notch welded or mechanically jointed.
Where necessary, profiles are reinforced with 1-5mm hot dipped galvanised
steel or aluminium sections. All window furniture is fixed through
either two profile walls or into the reinforcement.
Weather Resistance
Samples of the windows have been tested by the British Standards
Institute, Report Number BG001394. Conformation to BS7412 weather
performance requirements.
Mechanics
The notched impact strength in tension is 12 kj / m² and the ultimate
tensile strength is 45 N/mm ² impact strength using the falling
ball method show “no breaks”, and a figure of 20 kj/m² is
obtained.
Wall Thickness
The external walls of all profiles are 3mm thick for maximum
rigidity. Internal walls are 1.5-2mm thick.
Glazing
Internally glazed for attractiveness and security.
Chemicals
UPVc profiles are unaffected by chemicals found in normal building
operations, sea water and other atmospheric pollutions.
Thermal Movement
The coefficient of linear expansion of Concept profiles is 0.7 x ºC. Test
method BS4618
